BC’s Zero-Emission Vehicles Act sets out targets for the number of new vehicles that are sold or leased in the province that must be “zero-emitting”, i.e. must not emit greenhouse gases.

The targets are:

• 26 percent by 2026;
• 90 percent by 2030; and
• 100 percent by 2035.

The Act prohibits the sale of vehicles other than zero-emission vehicles on or after January 1, 2035.
