BCUC Chair

The Chair of the BCUC is a commissioner who has been designated as the Chair by the Lieutenant Governor in Council after a “merit-based process” (section 2 of the Utilities Commission Act).

The Chair is also the chief executive officer of the BCUC and has “supervision over and direction of the work of the other commissioners and the chief operating officer.”

The Chair has the power to appoint commissioners to panels (known as “divisions” in the Act) and to appoint the chair of a panel.
