The task force was announced March 14, 2023 by BC Premier David Eby. “The task force will include senior officials from the Province and BC Hydro, Indigenous representation and independent expertise.”

Task force was to provide “strategic advice” on:

• Improving the speed of permitting and delivery of required infrastructure
• Modernizing regulatory framework to better align with government priorities while protecting customers
• Identifying, enabling, and accelerating economic opportunities in clean energy, including opportunities for Indigenous Nations

This resulted in the Clean Energy Strategy, announced June 27, 2024.

According to Vancouver Sun reporter Vaughn Palmer, Mark Jaccard was one of the 10 members of the task force.
